Don't Hit Save The webcomic that dares to take on the gritty world of software, technology, and indie game development (by Jeff Lofvers). en-us Snow Day Tue, 16 Jan 2018 00:00:00 -0700

It's a snow day again today.

Despite business closures, I'm expected to work from home. I have little doubt my coworkers will be Skyping with me throughout the day, ensuring that I get my projects done.

It would be a shame if something were to happen to my router. A real shame…

But before that happens, how about a recap of some of the comics you should be reading? It's been a while since I've last given a list, so here are some comics you should check... [read more]

Section 702 Fri, 12 Jan 2018 00:00:00 -0700

There's a storm coming.

I'm not talking about the House of Representatives rejecting privacy safeguards and extending FISA Section 702. I already whined about that in the comic. Golly gee, why would I worry about something with so little potential for abuse?!? That's silly. You're silly.

No, I'm talking about the literal ice storm that's heading my way in a few... [read more]

Intel's CPU Security Flaws Fri, 05 Jan 2018 00:00:00 -0700

I want to write petty little jokes about laziness, writing code, and coworkers being mean to one another. Why why why is the tech industry constantly in the news for its cartoonishly crappy behavior?

Today’s comic was tricky to write. I like Intel. When they’re not introducing security flaws into nearly every device on earth, they... [read more]

I hope your 2018 is off to a decent start.

I can’t decide if I’m sleepy or grumpy right now, so I’m going to say that I’m slumpy.

Don’t feel bad for me, though. I make slumpy look good. Unreasonably good.

Sigh... I truly don't want to bash on Apple all the time. But they just won't stop being horrible. I've tried to cram as many items into one comic as I can. Let's hope this covers all the latest Apple scandals for the next month or two.

I don’t begrudge a company for making money. If they make great products, kudos to them for being popular. The problem I have with Apple is just how many shady, sleazy, creepy things they do along the way.

Apple often makes great... [read more]

Left Behind Tue, 26 Dec 2017 00:00:00 -0700

Why why why do I have to work today?

Both of my friends have off. My family has off. Does my office think anyone will be the slightest bit productive today?

In case my employer is reading this: The above statement and the comic are exaggerated for comedic effect. Of course I can't wait to have a mega productive and happy day with all of my equally enthusiastic coworkers. We're soooo looking forward to it.

Holiday Plans Fri, 22 Dec 2017 00:00:00 -0700

Happy whatever!

Many many years ago, my wife and I bought a crappy white light-up x-mas tree. It was on sale for $30 at Walmart, a couple days after Christmas. This thing barely came up to my shoulders. The branches were sparse, and the tree leaned uncomfortably to one side. I loved this tree.

The last time I set it up was when we lived in New York. The pathetic tree looked massive in the tiny apartment. You could barely open the front door because the tree took up so... [read more]

I’ve decided to give up R-rated movies for a month.
(For those of you outside the US, R-Rated movies are for age 17 and above)

To be thorough, I’ll stop reading violent fiction and playing violent video games. It's going to be a tame, sheltered month.

One month. No terrifying murders, no horrific screams of agony… none of the good stuff. I’m fine with foul language and nudity (more than fine). I just want to cut down the violence intake for a... [read more]

Blocking And Throttling (A Net Neutrality Tale) Fri, 15 Dec 2017 07:50:00 -0700

Well, it’s official: the FCC has done away with Net Neutrality.

Despite a letter from 18 Attorneys General from around the country asking for delays, despite the possibility of up to... [read more]
