Don't Hit Save The webcomic that dares to take on the gritty world of software, technology, and indie game development (by Jeff Lofvers). en-us Job Security Tue, 27 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0700

My day started off with a bang.

I woke up around 6:30, let the dogs out, then heard a loud crunching noise. I immediately looked in the backyard to see what the dogs had knocked over, but couldn't find anything. No broken gutter, no smashed windows, and the dogs didn't look nearly guilty enough. I gave up my search and headed back into the house. As I neared the door, I saw what it was:

A car had driven into the ditch across the street.

I wasn't two minutes... [read more]

Steam Sale Fri, 23 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0700

Today’s comic is dedicated to a friend/coworker who CONVENIENTLY sprained an ankle and couldn’t come into the office this morning. We all believe you, and hope you “get well soon”.

The Steam Summer Sale, for those who are unfamiliar, is one of the largest PC Game sales of the year. This is not an advertisement, just one of the many consumer crazes that I get excited about. Thousands of games from thousands of developers can be... [read more]

Amazon's New Patent Tue, 20 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0700

I have to thank my wife for telling me the news about Amazon's new patent. At first, I didn't believe her (the key to a happy marriage is denying anything your spouse tells you). Sadly, though, she was right. AGAIN.

So the great mystery of this news is: has Amazon patented this technology to use it themselves, or to stop others from using it? I'll give you one guess as to which one I... [read more]

Chet Tries To Be Sneaky Fri, 16 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0700

Like all the cool kids these days, I got one of those fidget cubes.

If you’re too lazy to click the link above, I will attempt to describe this little toy. It is a cube about the size of a large marshmallow, with buttons, dials, switches, spinners, and toggles all over its surface. From the comfort of your desk, you can push things, spin things, pull things, or (if you... [read more]

App work, work work, housework… these are the things keeping me busy as of late.

Meanwhile, certain other artists out there are doing outstanding stuff for their comics. These “friends” of mine probably care about their readers. I’m not so sure I suffer from that problem.

Josh Davenport, author of RGBros has been gradually improving his artwork in recent months. He’s been upping his game by drawing... [read more]

The Broken Phone Fri, 09 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0700

Today's comic reminds me of the time I broke my phone... a few days ago... when I wrote the comic. Why would you remind me of such a traumatic event?

I dropped the phone from waist height while trying to plug it in. It's fallen from much greater heights onto much harder surfaces, mostly when I throw it. But this time, the screen cracked diagonally, leaving only a third of the clock at the top intact.

This meant I couldn't unlock my phone, which meant I couldn't access... [read more]

Hey, look at that. After years of falling behind, Apple has decided to make hardware for creative professionals again. Neat.

I'm sure that will make some people very happy.

So how was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting? Did you manage to get caught up on sleep?

I decided to spend most of my time working on non-comic web stuff (a little... [read more]

Netflix Neutrality Fri, 02 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0700

This whole Netflix story slipped by me this week. I try to do a decent job of scanning tech news each week, but this one didn’t garner much coverage. Thankfully, the hilarious and observant news satirist Rene Rosa was kind enough to point me to an... [read more]

Meeting In Real Life Tue, 30 May 2017 00:00:00 -0700

I had a nice, long news post typed up for today, but I somehow lost three different drafts on three different devices.

Because I can't be bothered with retyping anything, here's a brand new haiku:

I just wrote a lot
It was funny and witty
Take my word for it

See you Friday.

Why why why did I not spray my ankles and feet with bug spray before mowing the lawn?!?

I know you know, you're just not telling me.

Pretty rude, reader, pretty rude.

Hey thanks for all the comments and questions you guys have been sending me in the last few weeks. I've been too busy scratching my legs for the last few hours to bother replying. But your... [read more]
