Fake It Until You Make It

May 20, 2016 - News Post

Hey hey, it's Friday!

I'm proud to say that the idea for today's comic popped into my head while I was showering this morning.

I'll pause for a moment while the full image of what I just said seeps into your brain.

The elapsed time from idea to published comic was probably about 40 minutes... not bad when you consider drying time. Is it the greatest comic ever? Meh. Is it better than the lack of ideas I had before I stepped into the shower? You bet!

I should seriously look into showering more than once a month.

In my last news post, I mentioned that I had spent the day writing code. I'm happy to report that I've continued that trend every evening this week. It's rare that I feel productive, so it's a good idea to take full advantage of my motivation. And what have I been coding? The fancy new Don't Hit Save website, of course!

I have a crazy busy June and July coming up, so I'm trying to do everything I can to get this site revamped before that time. The DHS website project has consistently been at the bottom of my to do list, but it's been steadily climbing up the list as I check off items like combing my beard, watching paint dry, and waiting for pots of water to start boiling.

Don't get too excited, I'm just modifying a template to fit my needs. I know I've been talking about this for months. It's not a major amount of work, it's just a matter of finding the time. I've been creating a variety of plugins to get everything working the way I want, so you can look forward to higher-resolution comics, responsive design, and maybe even some additional content.

So yeah, look for that soonish.

In other news, thank you to everyone who's been writing to me through the contact form. I had asked you guys to tell me the kind of projects you're working on, and you're up to some pretty cool stuff.

For example, Josh "Kyzrati" Ge of Grid Sage Games, has been working on a game called Cogmind. It's is a roguelike, procedurally generated sci-fi combat game. You build yourself from salvaged parts, dodging and attacking enemies. Cogmind is currently available as alpha access, and it's been getting some pretty great reviews. Josh is celebrating its 1-year anniversary this week. Go check it out!!!

Got something awesome you're working on? Tell me about it!
