What A Waste

January 17, 2017 - News Post

I had a rather vivid dream the other night. I thought I'd share what happened, because if there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that EVERYONE loves a good dream story...

In my dream, aliens or monsters of some sort were taking over people's bodies. Typical Jeff dream.

The aliens looked human, but there was something “off” about them. Perhaps it was their walk, maybe something in their eyes, or maybe it was the fact that they were hunting humans.

The aliens wandering the streets looked just like people commuting to work. Everyone acted like normal, rushed pedestrians… until a small group would stop in their tracks and begin staring at a random person. At that point, every man, woman, and child in the area would stop what they were doing and begin chasing that human.  Drivers, construction workers, school children, police offices, anyone within a block or two would join in the hunt.

When they found and caught someone, the mob would swarm the victim, holding them by the arms. I saw it happen to a guy about my age.  Where the aliens touched them, weird black snake scales emanated up and down his arm, spreading across the rest of his body. Within a few seconds, he was completely covered.  Then the scales faded and he walked away as if nothing happened. Secretly, though, they were now a part of the alien army. He was changed.

Because I'm internet famous, the aliens wanted a piece of me. I spent most of the dream hiding, running from place to place. I successfully eluded them for a while, I even thought I might get away, but it wasn't that kind of dream. When they finally found me hiding, I ran. Sadly, I'm not that fast a runner, even in my dreams.

They caught me, held my arms, and I could feel the scales taking over from their cold grip on my elbows.

It was numbing, like hitting your funny bone, and soon it spread to my hands. The world began to get cloudy. I couldn't see much, but I could hear one of them talking. My hearing started to fade, but his words were very clear, "Don't worry, when you wake up in your own bed, you'll think this was all a dream"

That's when I jolted awake.

My heart was racing. My hands, which were on my chest, had fallen asleep. My whole body was sweaty and tingly.

I looked around, and everything was normal. I'm so glad it was all just a dream.
