I had a bad hair day yesterday. It's getting too long. It curled into a ridiculous sideways pompadour before I woke up, and I did nothing to fix it all day. I left the house quite a few times while looking like a half-shaved poodle.
I feel quite comfortable telling you this. After a year and half of doing this comic, I'm humble enough to admit my less flattering habits and still oddly vain enough to think you might care. The people at the grocery store couldn't stop staring, but thankfully no one said anything (it's often hard to tell what's ridiculously foolish looking and what's supposed to be cool).
So why share all this? Because my lack of time spent primping and preening had a direct impact on my comic: I finished today's a whole day in advance!!!
I understand that this may not be a big deal to you, but I've had a difficult time doing this since some schedule/workload changes back in January. Having a comic done 24 hours in advance is a major accomplishment.
Aside from the typical computer stuff (and hair-related surprises), there isn't too much going on. I've been spending waaaay too much time working on apps. I am, however excited to report that I bought a rechargeable lawn mower.
I've bounced around in recent years from suburban life to city life and back, but I've never had a love for lawns. When I was a teen, my parents had us deal with 3 foot weeds using a tiny, ineffective electric mower. I had to go over the same spot several times to cut anything, all the while dodging the cord to avoid electrocution.
This new mower is fancy, inexpensive, and cordless. I haven't tried it out yet, but I'm certain it will feel like I'm mowing the lawn of the future. I'm excited! I know this enthusiasm won't last, but I'm enjoying it for the moment.
Perhaps, if I'm careful, I can even use the mower to trim my hair. It couldn't possibly look any worse.
