The Broken Phone

June 9, 2017 - News Post

Today's comic reminds me of the time I broke my phone... a few days ago... when I wrote the comic. Why would you remind me of such a traumatic event?

I dropped the phone from waist height while trying to plug it in. It's fallen from much greater heights onto much harder surfaces, mostly when I throw it. But this time, the screen cracked diagonally, leaving only a third of the clock at the top intact.

This meant I couldn't unlock my phone, which meant I couldn't access the data.

The important stuff (thousands and thousands of scantily clad photos of me) had thankfully been backup up two days before, but the backup of my contacts failed. Oops.

What does it mean for you? Well, if you don't know me, congrats! All you lose is the time it takes to read this news post. But if you made friends with me at any point in the last year and half (or enemies, Nick... don't think I forgot about the chalk incident) odds are I've lost your information.

Since it's cheaper and easier to make new friends than it is to try to repair my phone and retrieve the data, I'm going to leave this one up to my "friends."

If you know me, and you want to be on the safe side, you should probably shoot me a text or email or something. Either that, or you could save me a lot of trouble during the next phone crash by not reinstating yourself in my contact list.

For everyone else, now's your chance to sneak your number into my phone. Make up some story about how you know me. I'll probably be too busy writing webcomic news to even know the difference.
