Audiobooks

July 10, 2018 - News Post

I’ve been overdoing things lately, so I’m giving myself a break. No screens after work, no tv, no phones, and I’m even cutting back on reading.

Rather than engage with family, friends, and other fellow humans, I’ve found myself indulging in a lot of audiobooks.

In that last few weeks, I’ve listening to Slaughterhouse Five (the classic book I started reading several times but never finished), On Being Awesome (a somewhat fun book that feels like 30 pages of content padded out to 200), and Ghostbuster's Daughter (the extremely candid life of Harold Ramis as told by his daughter). It's been a nice change of pace.

I’m now listening to Yes Please, the autobiography of Amy Poehler. So far, it’s fantastic. I’ve loved her style of comedy since the early episodes of the Upright Citizens Brigade TV show, and I continue to love it to this day. No one plays terrified and defiant at the same time quite like Poehler. I sure hope this book doesn’t humanize her too much (I’m looking at you, Ghostbuster's Daughter).

Anyway, I’ve clearly stared at this screen for too long, so it's time to call it quits. If you have any suggestions for what I (or others) should listen to next, throw it in the comments below.
