That Job Interview Skills Assessment Test

Season’s greetings!

With every bad thing ever coming to pass on a national and global level, it’s exactly the right time for me to talk about petty changes I’ve made to my computer!

Since the repair of my power supply, I’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time optimizing the crap out of my software. I’ve written a few small AutoHotKey and Adobe scripts in the past, but this week, I’m kicking it into overdrive. I’m finally setting up a dirt-cheap homemade macro keyboard!

I now have a second keyboard with meaningful paper labels. By pressing a single button, I can execute a script to run a task, or set application-specific hotkeys. This is especially useful when switching between apps on the desktop. After decades of learning different software, each with their own unique hotkeys, my tiny wet brain is starting to get confused. Even my halfway-filled keyboard has drastically sped up today’s comic creation by 10-20 seconds.

All it cost me was an inhuman number of hours.

When it’s more completely set up, I’ll post the scripts somewhere. Most of the macros are specific to my specific needs, specifically. But for anyone building copy/paste comics, I might be able to increase your efficiency.

I am truly excited about this. Way more than I should be.

Odds are good that I'll someday make a comic about this. Consider today’s news a sneak preview.... or consider that future comic a lazy rehashing. I don’t really care what you do. I have to go tape more labels onto a keyboard.
