Art.
I feel like drawing tonight. That doesn’t happen too often, so I have to take advantage of it while I can.
Before I do exactly that, I thought I’d share a few websites I’ve been visiting this month. These are the artists that inspire me. Fair warning, I’ve been into some weird monster sci-fi stuff lately, it is my goal to get you hooked on that as well.
I don’t know these artists, but their work is outstanding. As someone who is incapable of putting effort into anything meaningful, it’s nice to see people create beautiful scenes from time to time. Click to view the art of:
- Simon Stålenhag - a painter of ultra-realistic dystopian scenes. I stumbled upon his work on stumble upon. I love the weather and lighting in each of pieces. Some of his works are disturbing, some nostalgic, all are thought-provoking and fascinating.
- Earl Norem, William George and Esteban Maroto - the artists behind the packaging of He-man and the Masters of the Universe. The cartoon was okay, the toy line was great, but the art on the toyboxes is what I love the most. It had an otherworldly quality that I haven’t seen on toy lines before or since.
- Paul Gerrard - a concept artist for movies, games, and tv. If you didn’t get enough He-man in the previous entry, do yourself a favor and click on his “1980’s iconic reimaginings” section in his portfolio. It will complete your life (even if you’ve never heard of He-man).
I recommend you spend 6-8 hours on each of those sites, so you'd better get started. Whatever you do, don’t bother me tonight, I’m trying to draw.
