Sigh... I truly don't want to bash on Apple all the time. But they just won't stop being horrible. I've tried to cram as many items into one comic as I can. Let's hope this covers all the latest Apple scandals for the next month or two.
I don’t begrudge a company for making money. If they make great products, kudos to them for being popular. The problem I have with Apple is just how many shady, sleazy, creepy things they do along the way.
Apple often makes great products, but there are ways to make products that don’t take advantage of consumers, developers, factory workers, courts, and tax loopholes. Is it more expensive? Slightly. Yet I feel that it’s well within reason for the world’s largest tech company to achieve.
In case you're thinking I made today's comic up. Here are my sources:
Panel 1:
- Tim Cook’s $98 million bonus - Apple's Tim Cook paid $102m this year including bonuses worth $98m
- Foxconn factory workers make a monthly wage of $286 for 60 hrs/week - iPhone X Release: The Human Cost Of Apple’s Most Expensive iPhone Ever
Panel 3:
- After years of feeling like Apple’s hardware fails prematurely, Apple confirmed they’re slowing phones older phone. They said it was to extend battery life... except, whoops, they forgot to tell anyone until they got caught. So customers have been upgrading their phones unnecessarily. - Apple confirms iPhones with older batteries will take hits in performance
