Friends And Family

This week, we finally got Bill & Ted 3!

I watched it today. I liked it. I always enjoyed those movies, and this one fits right in. It was hopeful, charming, and optimistic. Definitely in my top 3 Bill & Ted movies. I don't want to spoil anything, so here are a few quick thoughts:

If you haven't seen the previous movies, watch those first. They hold up fairly well (aside from a few lines of dialogue), and the second has some incredible twists and turns. I typically like dark, dry, sarcastic humor. You will find none of that in Bill & Ted.

We've been burned so many times by sequels emerging after several missing decades. This one was well done. It wasn't a violent misery fest like Star Trek Picard, and no one wore the same outfit for 30 years (I'm looking at you, Harrison Ford). The old characters made natural progressions in their lives that felt right, and the new characters fit right in.

With Bill & Ted, it was fun to see such a labor of love. It might not have been the greatest movie of all time (the plot is pretty damn predictable to anyone that saw the trailer), but I don't think that matters. I wanted to see weird characters and their reactions. Those did not disappoint.

Go see this movie (well, legally download it). Many of us could use more movies like this.

And when you're done, check this link to read a little more on how Bill & Ted would have been referenced in Dr. Lobster, the old webcomic made my Michael Buonauro and myself. I know Michael and I would have found it funny-- but absolutely no one, Dr. Lobster readers to Bill & Ted fans, would have thought it appropriate.
