What do I watch on YouTube? Good question.
Here's what I have playing in the corner of the screen whenever I tell the world I'm working:
...
Auralnauts - My single favorite channel as of late. They're audio engineers and musicians who masterfully re-dub existing content. These are some my favoirte videos:
- Boston Dynamics re-dub
- Infomercials
- Star Wars Minus Williams - You're going to see star wars a lot on this list. I'm not sure I like star wars anymore, but I definitely love the internet making fun of it
- Star Wars Episodes - Their EPIC redo of the Star Wars franchise. It seems a little silly/dumb for the first video or two, but strays into genius territory before you know what hit you.
- Daft Punk Prologue - When the band Daft Punk called it quits last year, they announced the breakup by releasing this super artsy video. Auralnauts knocked out their redubbed video reply within a day. The quality of the auralnauts video is outstanding. It's tragic it didn't get more views.
- DO IT Anthem: Shia Labeouf Remix - The most motivational music video of all time
Pitch Meeting - In case you've been living under a rock, this is how movies are really made:
Redlettermedia - great movie reviews that I normally agree with a little too much:
- Star Wars Episode 1 - Stunning 90ish minute review from 10 years ago
- Star Trek TNG season 1 review - chatting about a truly terrible season from a truly great show
- Ghostbusters Afterlife
People talking to themselves - A theme I enjoy on these channels:
Science channels
- ElectroBOOM - a show about electricity that... needs to be seen
- Anton Petrov - in-depth discussions on astronomy and science
- John MIchael Godier - futurist and science fiction author discusses the universe
- Vsauce - quirky science ramblings
- PBS Space Time - PBS has some great science shows. This one, covering astronomy, is my favorite
- The Slow Mo Guys - every time I think I'm tired of this concept, a new slow-mo video pulls me in
- Smarter Every Day - intriguing science details behind everyday stuff
- Kurzgesagt - the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy in real life
- Simone Giertz - bizarre, creative inventions
Other channels
- The 8-bit Guy - detailed discussions of ancient technology (computers 20+ years old)
- Picnicface - sketch comedy
- Defunctland - the history of theme park rides
- Toy Galaxy - toy history
- FilmCow - cartoons and sketches
- Viva La Dirt League - gaming and tech humor
- StiltbeastStudios - how to make halloween masks and props
...
Does a long list of YouTube links truly count as news these days?
Yes. Yes it does.
Happy watching.
