A week ago was Dr. Lobster day. Since that time, I had a lot of questions of what exactly Dr. Lobster was all about.

So for everyone who asked, here are some details of the first webcomic I ever made. Please correct me in the comments if you notice any inaccuracies. I’ve given this summary many times over the years, but my memory isn’t what it used to be.

Doctor Lobster was a thrice-weekly dramatic serial started in January 2000. It was written by Michael Buonauro and Jeff Lofvers.

The story chronicled the emotional trials of an ambitious aquatic veterinarian, Doctor Lobster. For years, he thought his greatest struggle was being a single parent-- that all changed the day he refused to let the wrong patient die.

Framed for the murder of his own son, the disgraced doctor went on the run. Hunted by both sides of the law, Doctor Lobster found himself cornered in a tiny seafood restaurant on the ocean.

With no options left, and time running out, he grabbed a fork and began to operate. Making do with the leftovers in the kitchen, he altered his appearance and his lungs. By the time police stormed the building, Doctor Lobster was no more. Dr. Lobster was born.

With his drastically altered appearance, he was free to escape undetected. He fled to the sea and began his plan to restore his name.

Throughout the strip, Dr. Lobster would take down members of several oceanic crime families and heal victims with his psychic powers. This happened one at a time at first, until his claw strength grew to the point that he brought multiple foes to justice in the same panel.

Many mysteries were solved, much justice was served. But could he ever heal the single-chambered sac he called his heart? You’ll just have to read to find out.

Unfortunately, the archives are no longer available online. I may have left out a few side characters and specific plot points, but you get the idea.

Again, readers might remember the comic a little better than I do. Did I get this right? Please let me know if I missed anything.
