I took a quick, 13-hour drive down to FL to visit relatives over the weekend (my relatives, not yours). I’m back today, but sleepy. Friday's comic was made in the car, I got to meet a brand new baby family member, and---
Blah, blah, blah. None of that matters. The only exciting thing to happen to me was on Friday:
I finally got to meet internet famous Josh Davenport.
For those of you who are uncultured slobs (or simply unfamiliar with other webcomics), Josh Davenport writes and draws RGBros, a comic about pop culture and weirdness.
RGBros is a comic I frequently link to, and it just so happens to be one of my favorites-- a REAL favorite, not some garbage comic I mention to fill space in the news.
Somewhere on the road between Nashville and Central Florida, I happened to pass through his side of town. Thanks to a friendly amount of stalking (and a healthy dose of warning messages), we managed to meet up for a few brief minutes in the middle of an otherwise boring drive.
Josh turned out to be funnier in person than his comic would lead me to believe. I have limited experience meeting friends from the online word, and this was a big one. I regularly motivate myself to make comics by demotivating him. I wasn’t prepared for a bad encounter in real life.
Shockingly, everything went smoothly. I’ve had more awkward encounters with close friends and relatives. This Josh guy knows how to pretend to be personable for 5-10 minutes. The whole encounter was... fun.
If you get a chance, definitely give RGBros a read. Follow Josh on the twitters and stuff, support his Patreon (and mine, while you’re at it). He’s freakin’ funny. Don’t believe me? Give him a call when you’re on his side of town. He seems to be receptive to that sort of thing.
