Global pandemic going on? Check.
Major food shortage for over a month? Check plus!
Perfect time for my fridge to go out.
I want to be clear. This is a one of those "slap my forehead" type of moments, not a scream obscenities moment. It even has a sweet ending. More on that later (that’s why I used the word “ending”).
Where was I? Oh yeah. The back wall had iced over. This was bad, yet repairable. Removing all the food from the fridge, taking out the drawers, unscrewing the back panels, removing the panels, and thawing a powered down fridge with a hair dryer for three hours was all it took to fix the problem. Easy peasy.
I sadly lost a lot of good food.
Edit on 2020-04-02: I heard from my wife that her friend Beth’s fridge went out this week as well. I’m forced to conclude that broken fridges are contagious as any virus. You have been warned.
The point of my story is not to make you feel miserable, it's to tell you about the wonders of macaroni and cheese on top of waffles! It's not just for breakfast anymore.
Now, I'm not a child. I don't place the entire box of mac and cheese on top of my waffles. I use a separate bowl for macaroni. You know, like an adult.
Now for the sweet ending:
I'd like to thank my neighbors from two separate households who not only brought over coolers to help me during the fridge incident, but also brought dinner!!! Don't worry, we kept our distances and wiped everything down. Just like I always do when people are nice to me. But how freaking cool is that?!?
People can be pretty awesome sometimes.
Not you, but other people.
