5 Years

September 19, 2020 - News Post

How the hell is this comic five years old? Why am I still making this? What am I doing with my life?!?

Well, I suppose I might as well celebrate. And there's no better way that I can think of than to slap together a quick review of the past year's comics like I do every year. Let's do this!

My favorite comics

  1. Keep At It
This is possibly my favorite comic ever. For those who haven't been reading Dr. Lobster, it starts in that era and goes through the many looks of Jeff over the years. My pandemic hair is rapidly approaching panel 3 levels.
  2. Some Friends
I made this to make a point to my “friends” who like to tag me. I don't want to be associated with you.
  3. Hairy
I thought I was so clever for this one. Too bad everyone hates Harry Potter.
  4. Furloughed Part 3 of I don't feel like counting anymore
This was my favorite job hunting joke. It summarizes far too many hours of my life.
  5. MouthsMouthsMouths
I can't spoon-feed everything for you. Figure out on your own why this is one of my favorites.

Weird comic milestones

  1. Minimalist
First comic ever to not feature a computer. Check if you don’t believe me. I always considered the tech to be the true star of the comic.
  2. Furloughed Part 1 of ?
First ever continuing storyline! Oh how I wish it wasn’t based on real life.
  3. Furloughed Part 2 of ?
First glimpse at Ricky’s house. I absolutely drew a new desk to him in its entirety just for that comic. I don’t care if you don’t believe me.
  4. Unemployment Insurance
First ever narration box. I could’ve saved myself a lot of trouble if I added those years ago.

Least favorite

  1. Coronavirus
I knew this would not hold up well. This was my first comic about the pandemic. Reading the news is a bit quaint. Horrific, ongoing deaths aside, I watched each and every talk show and youtube channel make this joke within 2 weeks of me making this comic. I don’t think anyone read this and repeated the joke. There are only so many jokes that can be made about a pandemic. But I should’ve known better and been more clever.

Most Political

Yeah... It's been a long year. Let’s stick to the comics that make me happy for this list.

Things I wish weren’t true

  1. Sparky
It was a very expensive winter.
  2. Yes, Again. Yes, Really.
    Again? Really?

Most popular

  • Simple Fixes
I kinda like the news more than the comic, even if I sound like my brain is losing oxygen.
  • Internet Famous
All of my more popular internet friends seem to relate.
  • Welcome To The Tutorial
This one had been floating in my head for years. I was never low enough on ideas to actually put it into a comic.., until February. Guess I should’ve done it sooner.
  • Excessive
This was crazy, and turned out better than I planned. Wouldn't it have been cool for me to do something special for year 5? I thought so, too.

Done! (for now) If I make it another year, look for a similar list.

Thanks for sticking around all these years.
